My classes

Welcome to Social Studies with Melissa!! I am very happy to see you here and am looking forward to getting to know you this year. My goal for you is to earn your final social studies credits needed for graduation while learning about your civil rights and civic duties, the economic decisions you will make, and your role in society.

The Classes that I teach are…
- Government
- Economics
- Sociology
- Criminal Law

My expectations for my students…- First and most importantly, you are here to learn so I expect that you will come to class ready to work and ready to learn. I know that you are all very busy people, but please take care of any non school related business before you get to class.
- You are almost all adults and should act as such! This means that you should treat myself and your fellow students the way that you would like for them to treat you.
- No cell phones, ipods, or MP3 players in class. If I see you using these materials without permission, you will receive a warning. If you are caught again, I will be taking your phone from you and leaving it in the office, where you may pick it up after class.
- I do not have assigned seats, at this point, but I reserved the right to move you or give you an assigned seat if at anytime I feel that you are abusing the right to choose your own seat.
- Textbooks will ALWAYS stay in this room… unless otherwise arranged by me. If you would like to take a book home you will have to make sure that I have your correct phone number, and the book number.
o If you take a book home with the intention of doing work at home and do not complete the work that you intended to do, you will lose the ability to take work home in the future.
- Take care of this classroom, put garbage away, turn off computers, push in chairs.
- Please do not write in your textbooks, they are not yours to keep and will be used by other students. This is vandalism and is very disrespectful to me, the school, and the class. (Students will be held responcible for books that are lost or damaged)

Rules for the Computers… I know that will all the computers in this room it is tempting to play on them, but this is social studies and that is what I expect you to be working on.
- You are not to be using the computers in this room for your own personal use;
Checking e-mail, chatting, listening to music, or anything else.
- You will be expected to work on the computers to complete some of your assignments. While doing these assignments you may use the links on the site to answer the questions that are part of the assignment.

You are in this class to earn a credit in Social Studies, so you should be using your time wisely!! I expect that you will be using your time in class to get your works done.
Sleeping in class.
- Sleeping in class is not allowed. If you are sleeping you will be woke up and send to the office.

Feel free to ask me questions on any of the material. I will do my best to help you get through this class and develop a greater understanding of the material.

If you understand the expectations that I have for this class please sign at the bottom.
