Starlab Portable Planetarium
The Starlab Portable Planetarium creates a unique learning environment for every level of eduation. The Starlab system consists of a silver fabric inflatable dome, a projector, a fan, and variety of projection cylinders. It has a diameter of 16', height of 12', and weight of 45 lbs. It can usually be set up in a gym, auditorium, or cafeteria.
The Starlab is checked out to schools with qualified staff who have attended the Starlab training. A rental fee is charged.
A kit (AV 520 Ast) includes curriculum-based materials assembled for use with astronomy lessons and with the Starlab portable planetarium.
Whale
An inflatable walk-in whale is available to check out to use with students. A 20-inch floor fan brings the whale to life size. The whale is black plastic held together with duct tape. The whale is sponsored by Project WILD, ND Game and Fish Department.
